New Delhi: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has formalised a partnership with Hero MotoCorp Limited to support and scale early-stage startups under its innovation accelerator initiative, Hero For Startups.
Part of the Startup India mission, this collaboration targets entrepreneurs working in future mobility, clean technology, and deep technology.
Through the Hero For Startups programme, selected startups will receive exclusive access to Hero MotoCorp’s world-class research and development centres in Germany and India, as well as its extensive dealer, supplier, and partner network.

Hero For Startups: Mentorship Opportunities
The Hero For Startups initiative will also provide mentorship opportunities, enabling entrepreneurs to refine their products and strategies with guidance from industry experts.
Shortlisted startups will be able to work on paid Proofs of Concept (PoCs), giving them the chance to execute pilot projects, validate their solutions, and gain valuable market visibility.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, stated: “By connecting industry experience with grassroots innovation, we aim to fast-track the journey from idea to impact, especially in emerging technologies and Tier 2/3 markets.”
Dr Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, reaffirmed the company’s role in shaping India’s future: “We believe India’s vibrant startup ecosystem is a vital force in building a self-reliant and globally competitive Bharat. Our partnership with DPIIT reflects our commitment to nurturing this entrepreneurial spirit, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The MoU was signed by Dr Sumeet Jarangal, Director at DPIIT, and Utkarsh Mishra, Global Innovation Portfolio Lead at Hero MotoCorp, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
This partnership is expected to open new pathways for innovation-driven industrial growth, supporting national initiatives such as Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat@2047.
